The Range Rover has been a big success for Land Rover in recent years, and the launch of the new Range Rover last year – even with big price rises – has seen demand soar to unprecedented levels. Good news for JLR. To add to that, the arrival of the all new Range Rover Sport – this time based on the new Range Rover instead of the old Discovery – has seen the RRS turn from a footballers wife’s car in to a proper sporty SUV, one that can take on the likes of the Porsche Cayenne and BMW X5 on-road and obliterate them off-road.
Mercedes-Benz has pulled the wraps off of the 2014 S-class at a media presentation in Hamburg, Germany, revealing a technological tour de force that the firm hopes will continue the plush sedan’s traditional dominance at the top of the global luxury car market. Set to arrive in North American showrooms in September, the Mercedes-Benz flagship is charged with the task of replacing not one but two different model lines. On the one hand, it has been developed to fill the role of the previous generation S-class on sale since 2007.
The new Vauxhall Adam (and its European sibling, the Opel Adam) have their debut at the Paris Motor Show when the order book opens. We’re still not entirely convinced that the Vauxhall Adam has enough individuality to be a star in the marketplace, but it looks a decent offering nonetheless. Its styling is distinctly generic – it looks like a mish-mash of ideas from successful competitors – but Vauxhall is promising much for the Adam with extreme levels of customisation and lots of high-end toys, even if many will be cost options.
